The spirituality of the Catholic Letters can be construed as Foundational Christian spirituality for it begins with hope in faith and love. It can also be seen as a counter spirituality in its earlier forms for it emerges when Christians struggle to define and defend their own identity in a society dominated by falsehood and false teaching. The spirituality of a living hope in faith and loves leads the Christians to look at God who is united with the human persons either through the works of faith, proper human conduct, and love for one another. It is hope that sets the human’s perspective for the future and it is love that makes the fulfillment of the union between God and humans a reality and it is faith that makes all things happen.
